About Our Somatic Approach

At godis in us, we offer Somatic Trauma Resolution to support you throughout the birth continuum, including the experience of the baby. The work has had over a century long pathway of influences grounded in pre and perinatal psychology, Polyvagal Theory, trauma-informed care, epigenetics, osteopathy, biodynamics, polarity, social neuroscience, neuroplasticity, fetal brain research, the baby’s experience, attachment, and bonding.

Your body remembers. Your body can find its way back to safety. As a Somatic Trauma Resolution practitioner, I listen deeply to recognize layers of experience, understanding their impact and connect with the deep health we know co-exists in the human body. In a session we create a resonant space with your current state and track body memories, body sensations, movements and perceptions through facilitated sensory awareness. We work in steps, establishing a felt-sense to help release trauma stored in the body—without needing to retell your story.

In an article published in the International Body Psychotherapy Journal in 2024, Kate White, PPN succinctly proclaims that the “soft and hard sciences make it clear that trauma impacts our bodies and therefore, our minds, starting at preconception. (White, 2024). This work aims to help you differentiate the memory of stored traumas in the body from the present time. We believe in the health of the system even if it seems out of reach in your current state. Whether you are preparing for birth or gave birth 20 years ago, recognizing an unregulated nervous system can help to heal the body at any season of your life.

About Me

About Dayna Hernández, CPM, LM, IPPD

Dayna Hernández is a Certified Professional Midwife, licensed midwife, instructor, postpartum support person, lactation counselor, and somatic birth trauma resolution practitioner. She bridges the sacred and the scientific—walking between worlds of Womb and Earth, Spirit and Science, Spanish and English.

After the birth of her first child, Dayna’s life shifted irreversibly—not only in her identity as a mother, but in the way she heard the deeper callings of her soul. What had once been a whisper became undeniable: she was being called to serve as a healer. As she held space for her own transformation, she became receptive to the wisdom and medicine within.

With deep spiritual conviction and ancestral reverence, Dayna serves families in one of the most transformational thresholds of life—pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She honors the wisdom of her lineage, guided by the words of her mother: “Nosotros somos gente humilde”—we are humble people. For Dayna, that humility is a powerful principle: that every person deserves safety, dignity, and sacred care in the birthing continuum.

Currently, Dayna works at Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery as a Clinical Mentor Coordinator and instructor, where she supports the next generation of midwives through education, mentorship, and compassionate leadership.

Now a mother of two, Dayna has chosen to step back from birth attendance and is focusing on expanding her healing offerings. She continues to support families through postpartum care, lactation counseling, and somatic trauma resolution—creating space for those navigating birth, loss, or transition to come home to themselves.
